Ecological violence

Ecological violence includes violence between people(s) over natural resources, but also environmental policies that can be violent against people. An example of ecological violence is the force used by fossil fuel companies against [usually Indigenous] communities who are protesting excavating projects.

Billy Wassell

After completing a BSc in Ecology and Environmental Science, Billy is currently studying for a MRes in Gender and Sexuality Studies with their thesis investigating the emotion work of young, queer environmental activists. Alongside their studies, Billy is an active queer and environmental activist themselves, organising with groups such as Green New Deal Rising and Trans Pride Birmingham.
